Can you please tell us something about yourself?

My Name is Mohamed Amine Messaoudi, I am a 24 years old Tunisian artist and photographer, and my business is based in Budapest, Hungary.

Can you please tell us how you had the idea to start your business?

Since 2017, I started being interested in taking photos with my phone. In 2018 I travelled to Hungary. I bought my first camera in Budapest, and since then the passion started moving towards a professional work and then to my actual business.

Can you please tell us about the main obstacles you have encountered and how you managed to overcome them?

As a foreigner in Hungary, the main obstacle was (and still is) the language barrier, because the Hungarian language is not the easiest to learn (especially if you have to learn it quickly).

It was also a challenge to understand all the needed procedures regarding taxes and regulations (due to the lack of knowledge). Also, the Covid pandemic situation negatively affected my business, especially at the early stage.

Has the recent pandemic affected your business and how did you overcome the challenges?

Yes! The pandemic situation had a huge impact when it comes to tourists and events, which are my main two streams of income. However, it was a great opportunity to discover new aspects and new streams such as online services, graphic design and consultancy which helped me to survive.

How do you see the future of your company?

My goals are to keep improving the quality of the pictures and my service at all, to purchase more assets, which will help me to add more value with my work, and to increase my income streams. I am also trying to expand my business network by travelling, to find new projects and partnerships.

Is there anything you would like to tell to your fellow entrepreneurs? #somethinginspirational

My best advice is to be organized and stay focused and prioritize your work. Also, try to have multiple plans by creating strong network of contacts.
